Castel Valer

Castel Valer, castelli visitabili della Val di Non in TrentinoCastel Valer is one of the most elegant castle in Val di Non. It stands in a panoramic position just outside the village of Tassullo, located on a charming and peaceful hilltop, surrounded by apple trees.

The walls of Castel Valer, surrounded by orchards, are marked by more than a thousand years of history. The most remarkable aspect of the castle is that it was the manor house of the same noble family for centuries. Crossing the threshold of Castel Valer, the ancient home of the Spaur family, is like going back in time. It was mentioned for the first time in written documents in 1191, but it is older for sure, such as the very high octagonal tower that dominates the castle.

Castel Valer is open to the public, but you can only visit the castle with a guided tour. If you book the guided tour at specified times you will discover the gardens, San Valerio Chapel with its wonderful frescoes by Giovanni and Baptista Baschenis, Madruzzi rooms, the studios, the Gothic kitchen, the loggia, the hall decorated with coats of arms and the majestic Ulrico Hall.
