Because the atmosphere among the ruins of this ancient castle is reminiscent of the castles of Britain: stone walls, a green field, silence and a stern appearance. Today, only a few traces remain of what was once an important medieval manor house but from the top of the tower you immediately understand its strategic position.
To reach Castel Sporo, follow the signs for the Camino Jacopeo d’Anaunia from the centre of the village. Above the village, the signage (featuring a yellow shell) directs you onto a forest track on the left. Continue along this road until the ruins of the castle appear on your left.
