Lake Tret is one of the best-loved places in the Val di Non. One curious thing about it is that it goes by three different names: Lake Tret, Lake Santa Maria or Lake Felix Weiher. Near to the village of Tret, this man-made lake is on the border between Trentino and the German-speaking South Tyrol region of Italy.
Lake Tret is a little pool of water surrounded by forest, a perfect place to get away from everything for some rest and relaxation. You can reach it on foot, a lovely walk with a climb of 350 m. When you reach your destination, as well as enjoying the panorama, you can stretch out in the shade of the trees, walk around the lake or dive in: Lake Tret is suitable for swimming.
Let me tell you a secret: every morning at 6:30, before work, I go up to Lake Tret and dive into the water for an energising dip. After this dip in the cool water, I am ready to face whatever the day has in store for me. And don’t think that I stop once winter arrives! When the like is covered with ice, my friends and I dig a hole and take the plunge. Brrrrrrrrrr!
