For years now I have been taking people into the gorges of Lake Santa Giustina and you know what? I’m still not tired of it! When I come here, it is like being reborn. I leave my worries behind, put on my life jacket, pick up my paddle and I’m off. After three hours, I return regenerated in my heart and in my soul.
For me, these wild places are the perfect metaphor for us residents of the Val di Non: a tough rock-like exterior which conceals a beautiful soul just waiting to be discovered. Want to come with me? I promise you, you won’t regret it!
Of course, all the best goals in life require a bit of effort, so give the paddling your all! Don’t know how to? I’ll teach you, trust me, it’s easy. And after all there will be two of you in each kayak and “a problem shared is a problem halved” as you say. While we cross Lake Santa Giustina, I will tell you about its history, when it was created, how its dam was built: did you know that, at the time, it was the highest in Europe?
The voyage starts properly when we reach the entrance to the gorge. Don’t be afraid, I know how to move between these narrow rocky walls. Make sure you bring your camera because it is unlikely that you will find such a spectacular sight anywhere else. But I won’t tell you any more, to understand you have to come here yourself.
Ready? I’ll be setting sail in a few minutes....
